Prologue to CARRIERS

February 19 2013

"Garuda, a-ten-hut!"

The flight deck crews and marines serving aboard KRI Garuda, Indonesia's brand new Aircraft carrier snap into attention.

"Not two days ago Major Alvin Adhiyaksa and Captain Raja Manggala still dine with us. But no one really knows when, where, or how one's going to lost one's life in this line of duty. Today, we will perform memorial service for them, who have perform a great sacrifice so their comrades could escape Karimata strait incident. Join me in remembering the fallen GRENADIERS!" the commander of the ship said.

Four F-14Bs from 5th Naval Strike fighter squadron soar above the ship, one suddenly climbs up and away from view, representing that the pilot used to fly in that position has died.

"My name is Major Alvin Adhiyaksa, welcome to 5th Naval Strike Fighter Squadron. When we launch I want all of you to stay glued to me up there, with all this tension with neighboring countries someone's bound to get shot down someday. You all better be using your spare time today for resting up, because tomorrow morning we'll start doing carrier qualification and dogfight simulation"

"Yes sir!" The new pilots said at once.

"Good, dissmissed" Major Alvin said.

The new pilots all disperse from the hangar deck toward their living quarter, chatting about what to expect tomorrow. One pilot stayed behind, checking the F-14B with his name under the canopy.

"She's a beauty isn't she?"

The pilot grinned, "Yes sir, I couldn't wait to fly with her"

"She'll give you feeling of power, especially when intercepting Malaysian leakers. Their MiG pilots always bug out as soon as they detect us in their radars" Major Alvin said.

"I heard the news that they have F-15s at their bases, have you ever intercepted any?"

Major Alvin laughed, "Malaysian could aqcuire those planes with ease sure, but unlike us, they don't have the pilots needed to fly them, unlike the aussies which are a real threat for us since they fly Super Hornets and were more likely to stand up to our interceptors"

"I'll be waiting for tomorrow, good evening sir" the pilot said, saluting.

"Carry on kid" Major Alvin said.

January 5 2013

"This is Grenadier 1 to all aircraft, leakers identified as Malaysian MiG 29s bearing 290, it's the usual" Major Alvin said.

"Roger that Grenadier 1, I wonder why they still doing this if they'll just bug out at the end"

"They're keeping us on our toes kid, at least they gave us plenty chances to practice"

"Heads up! there're more than double the usual number!" 1st lieutenant Sasha said in alarm.

The four F-14s flying in finger four formation adjusted their heading to come at the leakers head on. their wings swept into 57 degrees angle.

"This is AWACS Gatotkaca, leakers closing into visual range, standby Grenadier flight"

"Roger that Gatotkaca"

Sasha checked her radar and grinned, "Malaysian MiG turning around as usual" she said.

The other pilots and RIOs chuckled, Major Alvin contacted the AWACS, requesting permission to return to base.

...........................................................

"Steady Grenadier 3, steady, you're on the spot"

"lowering tailhook, range 200 meters"

The paddles watch as Grenadier 3 coming closer and closer toward the deck.
"climb up by a few degrees... you're on the money"

The F-14 hit the deck after it's tailhook catch the 3rd wire, stopping immediately.

"Nice landing kid"
